Willie Josh Rice

December 19, 1929 – August 06-2018

On August 06, 2018, Willie was called home at the age of 88. Willie was born to Isabel Rice in Macon County, Georgia. Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, and mother of his eight children, Ernestine was more than his friend and companion.

We remember Willie as a very strong-willed, generous, humorous, entertaining, and family oriented man. Willie was a music and dance lover, an all American sports fan, and he loved to engage in intellectual conversations with others. Willie was a determined man who could accomplish anything he set his mind to do.

Willie's interest included family, boxing, reading, and staying informed about world events. He believed in the power of prayer and appreciated how God blessed him and took him through his journey.

We don't have the words to express the love that we have for Willie, and we will always carry a part of him in our hearts.

Willie leaves behind, in mourning, his eldest daughter Virginia Rice-Greene, Patricia Davis, Stanley Rice, Curtis Rice. He will also be missed by a host of grand and great-grandchildren.

Willie will be honored by a viewing at 11:00 a.m. August 15, 2018 at Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Ave, Suitland, MD 20746.

Burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Road, Suitland, MD 20746.
