Obituary

William Henry Nelson, known fondly as Bill, was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of many. His family was his pride and joy, with 6 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren who brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. Following the loss of his parents in North Carolina, William made New York his home, where he built a life filled with love, hard work, and dedication.

As a proud Marine, William exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his military service. His unwavering dedication to his country and his fellow service members was a testament to his character and sense of duty.

William's professional journey led him to a career at the United States Postal Service, where he served diligently until his well-deserved retirement. His commitment to his work and his community was unwavering, earning him respect and admiration from all who knew him.

Among those who will forever hold a special place in William's heart is his daughter, Veronda Irby, who was a source of joy and pride for him. The bond they shared was unbreakable, and the memories they created together will be cherished for a lifetime.

William, or Bill as he was affectionately called, will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His kindness, wisdom, and love touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those he encountered. The legacy of service, love, and dedication that he leaves behind will continue to inspire and uplift those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him.

As we bid farewell to William, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his beloved wife, Shirley Nelson, at the George Washington Memorial Park. While we mourn the loss of such a special individual, we also celebrate the life he lived and the profound impact he had on all who knew him. William's memory will forever be a beacon of light and love, guiding us through the days ahead.

On Tuesday, May 28th, at 12:30 pm, family, friends, and comrades will gather to pay their respects, honor Mr. Nelson's memory, and bid him a peaceful farewell. The burial service will be a time of reflection, remembrance, and gratitude for the life of a remarkable individual who leaves behind a lasting impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
