Therlo was born to the late Jacob and Hannah Jones on February 26, 1952 in Rocky Mountain, North Carolina (Nash County).

Therlo attended Stony Creek Elementary in Rocky Mountain, NC until he joined his brother Jacob in New York at age 12. He went to Job Corp at the age of 16, where he obtained his high school diploma and trade in auto body repairs. He then moved to Washington, DC in the early 7o's. His first job was at a Chevy Chase Car dealership, after which he obtained co-ownership of an auto body shop. Therlo continued working until his sudden stroke.

Therlo was a sweetheart. He was fun to be around and had a great sense of humor. He enjoyed going to the casinos every chance he could get. He also enjoyed watching sports and spending quality time with his family and friends. He will truly be missed.

Therlo departed this life on March 12, 2022 at Serenity Rehabilitation Center in Washington, DC after a battle with cancer. Even though he was sick, he always had a positive attitude.

Therlo leaves to cherish his memories, a daughter, Crystal Jones; eight grandchildren, Kaliah Jones, Caleb Johnson, Andre Jones, Kori Johnson, Antonio Newton, Jarmani Mitchell, Brandon Brown, Jr., and Briana Brown; a great-grandson, David Tucker, Jr.; three stepsons, Avery Bullard (Ebony), Baron Miller, and Vernon Miller, Jr.; two sisters, Mary Jones and Lillie Williams; four brothers, Genesis McDonald Jones (Betty), Steven Henry Jones (Dora), Ernest Jones, and Larry Jones; an uncle, James Edward Harrell, three aunts, Dora Williams, Gladys Mumford, and Margie Slade; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He preceded in death by his parents, Jacob Sr. and Hannah, two brothers, Elbert and Jacob Jr., a sister, Margie, and a daughter, Therlonda Jones.
