Shirley Mae Lucas Grant was born on August 7, 1933 in Washington, DC and was raised by her parents, the late Sylvia and Mack Lucas. She made her transition to the Heavenly City on November 7, 2008 in Washington, DC.
Shirley was educated in the Public Schools of the District of Columbia. She was a Professional Food Preparation Caterer until her retirement.
She was married to the late Elmer Grant.
Shirley was warm, nurturing and delightful to her family, neighbors and her friends. She will be missed greatly.
She leaves in memory her sister, Gloria Jean Gilmer; brothers, Gerald Lucas (Pat), Ronald Lucas (Brenda) and William Lucas (Regina). In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, Chester Coates and Mack Lucas, Jr. (Julia)and her sister, Sylvia Krider (Harry). She is also survived by her beloved dog and constant companion, Randy and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home on Thursday, November 13, 2008 at 10:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery in Brentwood, Maryland.
