IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rogers O
Alexander
September 3, 1929 – December 29, 2019
Rogers Omel Alexander, was born on September 3, 1929 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late McKinley and Beulah Alexander. On December 29, 2019 after battling a long illness, surrounding by his loving family God descended his angels to escort him to his new home in Heaven. His wife Eunice F. Alexander preceded him in death; one sister Darthula Herring and one brother William Alexander preceded him in death. He was united in Holy Matrimony in Waldorf Maryland on August 29, 1998 to Dolores Hunter.
Rogers attended Bluefield State Teachers College and in July of 1951 he joined the United States Air Force and worked as a Communications-Electronic Program Manager until his retirement as a TSGT in August of 1972. Not one to sit at home he came out of retirement to work for the Public Schools of the District of Columbia (DCPS) as a Supervisor over the Personnel Records Filing Operations from November 8, 1972 until his second retirement on June 30, 1995 .
Among friends and colleagues Rogers was know as much for his lively, outgoing and congenial personality as for his love of coaching the little league (football and basketball), tennis, racquet ball, music and dancing. But his greatest pride was watching his son play football in college and professionally, his daughter receiving her Master's Degree, being with his three granddaughters and traveling with his wife. Rogers will be greatly missed by all that knew him and will always live in the hearts of those left behind.
Accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age, he would rise early on a Sunday morning to attend church at Andrews Air Force Base before his illness.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his loving and devoted wife of twenty-one years, Dolores H. Alexander; two children Rogers B and LaShonta Prince; three granddaughters Diamond, Destani and Dynasty Prince. Two godchildren; Benjamin Hunter III and Tamiya Baptiste. Sisters/Brothers-in-law; James Hunter (Faye), Ronald Hunter (Donna), Priscilla Mack, Donald Hunter (Lucille), Benjamin Hunter (Terrie), Regina Hunter and Gregory Hunter (Michelle); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends who will miss him tremendously
