Obituary

Pinto Ho passed away peacefully at home on 15 September 2025 surrounded by his loving family.  Pinto was born in 1936 in Africa, where he lived there until his family immigrated to the United States in 1976.  For almost fifty years he resided in Fort Washington, Maryland, with his wife, Amelia, and where they raised their two sons, Filipe and Art.

As the eldest child of five children, Pinto was pulled in his early teens from school to help his father in their farm in Africa.  Despite the lack of a complete formal education, his acquired knowledge was largely self taught and based on his own life experiences.  Life in the USA found him mostly working at the Library of Congress in the maintenance department.  Together with his loving wife Amelia, he worked tirelessly to ensure that his sons would have the opportunities to succeed in the new country.  His devotion to his family was as selfless and unwavering as it had been to his own parents and siblings in Africa.

After 55 years of sustained work supporting his families in two continents, he finally allowed himself a break, by retiring in 2005.  For the next twenty years he lived a rewarding life that included witnessing his grandchildren transition into loving and exemplary model citizens.

Pinto will be remembered for his unassuming, unpretentious, kind personality - whose compassionate and sympathetic nature always brought friends and family to his side.  Beneath he also showed the deep devotion and unconditional love that characterized the person that he truly was.

Pinto is survived by wife, Amelia; sons, Filipe and Art; daughter-in-law Julie; grandson Mica; and granddaughter Beira.  He is also survived by youngest brother, Seng.  Five younger siblings predeceased him.
