Obituary

Pearl "Penny" Mountjoy

Some of us come into this world and take the cards we are dealt.  Some come, look at those cards and demand another draw, and just like that, they are presented with perfect hand.
Pearl E Mountjoy came into this world on February 7th, 1947 to Raymond and Lois Mountjoy of Washington DC.  She was always meant to be the protector, the big sister. In a short time, she was the big sister to Virginia Mountjoy, Raymond Mountjoy, and Clyde "Toby" Mountjoy. She was the caretaker to all, even when the hand was against her.

She persevered, finished high school and excelled in her first job.  In the late 1960's and early 1970's opportunities for women opened up and she jumped at the chance to make her dream come true, become a Police Officer. The first of many accomplishments, she was hired as the first woman Police Officer in Hyattsville, Maryland. After a few years there, she moved to Prince George's County Police force. During her 25 years at PG, she had many accolades to her name. She became the protector of many and an advocate for those who did not have a voice. She taught those around her to stand up for themselves and showed grace and kindness to those who sought out her help.

She tresured her relationships.  She would talk about how much she loved her family and how much they meant to her. The love of her life, her husband Paul Low, rounded out that perfect hand. She loved him with all of her soul. Their time together would never have been enough for her and she missed him dearly when he passed.  She kept those in her circle near her till the end she was a loyal Wife, Sister, Aunt, Bonus Mom, and true friend. The FOP Lodge meant so much to her with the feeling of family and community.

Penny left us too soon on February 10, 2026.  Penny is survived by her sister Virginia Mountjoy of Missouri and niece Crystal Stokes-Danner (Jeremiah). Brother Clyde "Toby" Mountjoy (Michelle) nieces Alayah and Jasmine. Sister-in-law Connie Mountjoy (South Carolina), nephews Raymond (Lisa), Doug and niece Debbie. Step children Holly Reed (Jim) grandchildren Sarah, Katie, Charlie.  Lee-Hannah Allen (Keith) grandchildren Auds and Becca.  Will Low (Sandy) grandchild Matthew.

Penny was preceded in death by her loving husband Paul Low and her brother Raymond Mountjoy
