Miss Pauline Belton gently departed this life, the morning of August 2 nd , 2022, in Forestville, Maryland.
Pauline was born on November 9 th , 1947, to the late Eli and Malinda Dale Belton. She was the third of four children born to this union; (all predeceased) two brothers: Eli Jr. and John Alvin, and one sister Betty Jean (also deceased).
Pauline was born and reared in Washington, DC. She was educated in the DC Public School System, graduating from Eastern High School, SE, DC. Pauline attended American University and received an Associate's Degree in Business Management.
Pauline worked for the Office of the Postmaster General as a Secretary for twenty years before she suffered a debilitating stroke that left her paralyzed on her left side. Despite all of this, her attitude never changed; she never complained about her condition or used it as an excuse not to attend church or work. Shortly after this, she retired from government service, only to return several years later. Pauline worked for the Office of Personnel Management for an additional twelve years, before finally retiring from government service. After retirement, she volunteered her time as an Election Poll Worker and even an Election Judge for Prince George County, faithfully serving for over sixteen years.
Pauline grew up in the Apostolic/Pentecostal church community. In her younger years, she attended The Way of the Cross Church of Christ, under the leadership of the late Henry C. Brooks. In 1969, she decided to become a member of The Holy Temple Church of Christ under the leadership of the late Bishop Joseph Weathers, where she was one of the founding members of the church. Over the years, Pauline sang on several choirs in the church, served as the Church Secretary, and served as a faithful Missionary in the Missionary department. Pauline never faltered in her commitment to Jesus Christ. Church, fellowship, and God were constants in her life.
Some of her most enjoyable moments, she would recall, was time spent on the Morning Call Prayer Line, and the Workers for God Prayer line, in which she participated in, for nearly thirty years. Pauline loved her Bishop, her Church family, and her own family. She was always available for prayer and ready to take on any task that was asked of her. She loved to work with the youth in Vacation Bible school, and had a zest, zeal, and a passion for anything that had to do with serving God.
Memories will be cherished. Pauline is survived by her only child, Eric Lamont Belton, and one granddaughter, Gabrielle Emma-Malinda Belton, two nephews, Earl Minor (Florida), Josh Belton (Greensboro, NC), one niece, Jayla Belton (Greensboro, NC), and Sister-in-law, Stephanie Belton (Greensboro, NC). Her God Children: Shekinah Baltimore and Shekinah Bonnette. Many God Brothers and Sisters: James and Linda Bonnette, Cynthia Baltimore, Inita Redd; a host of family members: the Dales', the Belton', church family, and friends.
