IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael Anthony
Millard
November 25, 1942 – December 4, 2018
Michael was born to his late parent's, Clarence Millard Jr. and Betty (La Gretcha) Millard in Washingotn DC. He and his three younger siblings (Cheryl-deceased, Gregory-deceased, and Brenda) were raised together in a Catholic household in the local area. His late grandparents (Clarence Sr. and Lucille) were an essential part of his upbringing, and he loved them very much. He attended DC Public School; Charles Young Elementary, Browne Junior High, and graduated with honors from Springarn High school. As youngsters, he and his side kick "D", sold and delivered newspapers in the NE and NW quadrants of DC. He received an academic scholorship and attended Howard University were he majored in mathematics and business. He later became employed at the US Postal Service, where he met the love of his life, Leola. Michael, so ambitious, resigned from the Post Office to pursue his dream of becoming a Staple in the Black Entrepreneur Community in DC. He would later run his own businesses (liquors stores) and invest in the stock market; becoming very a successful businessman.
He always looked out for his family, friends, and his community. He is a man who believes that if you invest in your education, work hard, and dedicate yourself to your craft; you can achieve anything! Mike loved spending time with his family playing cards (Poker), eating good food / drinks, and having a good time! He knew all there is to know about fine wines and champagnes, liqueur, beer; you name it and he could tell you about it! Many people often consulted with Mike to learn how to invest and start their own business.
Although Mike and Leola later led separate lives; he made it his priority to maintain ongoing contact with her and ensured he was present for their daughter's graduations, birthday parties, family holiday dinners, and much more! He loved his sons and was proud of the men they became. He enjoyed being a grandfather, great uncle, and made sure they all had savings bonds for the future! Every CADILLAC Mike owned was custom made! When you saw the all-white Deville or Seville it was party time; but if you saw the station wagon you know it was about work!
Michael leaves behind his loving and devoted daughters, La Shaun (Ed) and Michelle (Jerome), sons Keith and Michael (Keshayla). His grandchildren MarQuise (deceased), Romey, Erynne, Lauryne, Summer, Jonathan, Kassidy, Kalon, and Kairo; His sister Brenda, nieces Bridgette (Bridney and Brandon) and Tracy; nephews Jovan and Marcus; His Aunt Diane, who he affectionately called "D", was more of a sister to him and they were so very close; Phyllis, his aunt who he loved and respected, uncle Louvon who made him laugh, and a host of extended family and friends.
