Michael Keith McKenzie was born on May 15, 1950 in Jersey City, New Jersey to Basil L. and the late Shirley A. Taylor McKenzie. Michael made his transition on June 11, 2007 in Woodbridge, Virginia.
He was a graduate of Mackin High School and received a Track Scholarship to attend Lewis University in Chicago, Illinois, he returned home after his second semester of his Junior year to help care for his mother.
Michael served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam era after being drafted and was honorably discharged.
On May 14, 1983 he was joined in Holy Matrimony to Carol P. Campbell, this union was blessed with two children.
Michael was employed with the Skippy Trucking Company as a driver.
A true outdoorsman, he enjoyed tremendously the sports of fishing and hunting. Michael was a true sports fan he enjoyed the Washington Redskins as well as the New York Giants, his favorite baseball team was the New York Yankees and he liked to watch soccer on television.
Michael had a great sense of humor, he was a practical joker. He had a deep love and concern for two of God's greatest creations; children and animals and they both gravitated to him always.
Although he is removed from us in the physical sense, his spirit remains with us.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life; his loving wife, Carol P. McKenzie; a son, Cullen McKenzie; a daughter, Aja McKenzie; his father, Basil McKenzie; his stepmother, Patricia L. McKenzie; two brothers, Steven McKenzie and Douglas McKenzie and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM until the service at 12 Noon in the Chapel of the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland. The interment with Military Honors will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland.
