It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Michael Paul Funk of Waynesboro Virginia on April 2, 2021. Mike was born May 7, 1955. The oldest of three children, he grew up in Arlington Virginia, graduating Wakefield High School in 1974. After spending years in Suitland Maryland Mike relocated to Front Royal where he embarked on countless journeys across the United States as a trucker. In retirement he was able to travel and indulge his favorite activities that included spending time in nature, studying history, genealogy, reading, watching action movies and time with family. A member of Valley Covenant Church of Waynesboro, his strong faith in God was apparent to all who knew him.

Mike is preceded in death by his devoted mother, Carol. He leaves behind his loving family, father Herb Funk of Myrtle Beach S.C., sister Kathy of Annandale Va., brother Tom of Washington, D.C. He had a close bond with nephew William and his wife Marie and their children Krista, Kara and Kaylee of Fairfax VA.

We, his family will feel his loss and remember Mike fondly until we meet again in Heaven. Rest in Peace dear son, brother, uncle. We love you.
