Mary Catherine Carroll-Holly was born June 8, 1955 in Washington, DC to the late Mary Ann and Will Holly. She was affectionately known as White Mary or Ma to most.

Mary attended Notre Dame High School where she received her diploma. Upon completion, she furthered her education at PTC Career Institute.

Mary was full of life. Her smile could light up the entire room. She was a caring, loving and generous person. Mary loved to cook; she made the best potato salad. That was her signature dish. Her loving heart made her open her home up to whomever was in need. She was "Mom" to many.

Mary's caring heart and excellent service, carried over in her work. Mary serviced students at Gallaudet University in the cafeteria; was an assistant teacher at a nearby charter school; and a desk clerk at Watergate East.

Mary loved her children and grandchildren; that's all she talked about. She was so proud of her babies. She openly loved the Lord. She actively served in the church, and willingly shared all of God's blessings on her life.

As she joins her son, Nevada Smith in heaven, she leaves to cherish her life, five daughters; Marquetta Dandridge (Sandy), Meshia Smith, Keeshia Carroll, Melissa Carroll and Marie Carroll; sixteen grandchildren; seven great grandchildren. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
