Martha Anne Bradford (Gilbert), eldest daughter of Delbert and Effie Gilbert of Karns, Tennessee, born March 8,1941. Martha died on February 27, 2020 at Washington Hospital Center due to complications from heart disease.

Martha attended Karns High School as well as the University of Tennessee School of Nursing.

She was then employed in Knoxville, TN at Fort Sanders Hospital where she met her husband.  They were married and moved to Washington, D.C. in 1964.  Martha had a long career with the District of Columbia government. She retired in 1995, then returned to work in the Child & Family Services Agency department for 14 years.

Martha leaves to cherish her memories, her beloved husband of 55 years, McAlister A. Bradford of Forestville, MD.

Other survivors include Martha's father Delbert Gilbert (100 years young); her sister and brother in-law Linda and William Forrester; nephew William Forrester Jr. and Sheila; Aunt Patsy Jackson and husband Len.

She is also survived by four step-daughters, Annette Bradford (Idyllwild, CA); Kimberley and Tommy Arsisto (Honolulu, HI); Detdra and Keith Fulwood (Temple Hills, MD); Shannon and Andrew Goldberger (Silver Spring, MD). Four grand-children, Justin Carland; Evan McKinney; Ryan Gatewood and Sadie Goldberger-Najjar. Two great grand-children; Ryder Gatewood, and Benjamin Gatewood and many other dear relatives and friends.
