Obituary

Marilyn Lewis was born o August 25, 1962 in Washington DC to the late James Bowman and Jacqueline Richardson.  She was educated in Washington DC Public Schools attending Bancroft Elementary, Alice Deal, accepted into Duke Ellington School of the Arts for dance, and later graduated from Woodrow Wilson.  Marilyn worked for Perpetual Federal Bank as a telephone operator and billing clerk for ten years.  She then joined her friend Robin Scott from a previous job and was employed at The Department of Transportation, first as a telephone operator and then as a billing clerk.  This is where she worked with her "roomie" Deborah Harris before moving into a new position as a CSR (Customer Service Representative), building phones and voicemail boxes in a Nortel telephone switch.  Marilyn grew and learned her skills with her cohort Mr. Thomas Green and earned her stripes as Team Leader.  She especially loved her "girls" Sarah Ayres, Dominique Davis and Christina Jones.  They tweaked her last nerve on many occasions but they were her "girls".

Marilyn met and married her husband of twenty five years Wendell Lewis who preceded her in death, and to this union three children were born, Wendy, Wendell Lewis (twins), and Malik Lewis.  She enjoyed spending time with children, family and loved watching the Dallas Cowboys.  Marilyn was a wonderful mom who taught her children about life and love,  her passing has left a huge hole in our hearts.

She leaves to cherish her memories her children; Wendy, Wendell, and Malik Lewis, mother; Jacqueline Richardson, loving siblings; Lorie Richardson, Sabrina Harper, Fawn Cunningham (Joe), Andre Bowman, Neil Bowman, John Richardson, Henry Swain, sisters-in-law; Patricia Johnson-Winters (Joseph), Angela Jackson (Jay), brother–in-law; Edward Johnson (Ramona), a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, devoted and special friends and colleagues that will never ever forget her.  Marilyn will join her family that preceded her in death, father; James Bowman, grandmother; Waunetta Mills, sisters; Sadina Bowman, Deatrice Bowman, brothers-in-laws; Andrew Young and Eric Lewis.
