Maphon J. L. Ashmon, affectionately known as Nee-Nee, was born 8/23/1975. She went home to be with her father Nehru Ashmon Sr., her big brother Nehru Jr., her Grandfathers Howard Ashmon, Willie L Cobb and her Grandmother Dorothea Ashmon on 3/14/2019. Nee-Nee was a loving and dedicated mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. She passionately worked as a Research Assistant at the Library of Congress in the Rare books division. She was at the Library for 17 years. Have you ever met a person who just fills a room with light, love and joy the moment they step in? That's the only way to describe Nee-Nee. A rare beacon of light in a world that can oftentimes be a little cloudy. She genuinely gave everything she had to everyone she met with no expectation of return. She will be fiercely missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. She is survived by her mother, Linda Cobb-Ashmon and her daughter Nehemiah. She also leaves behind her brothers Donte, Willie (Redz) and Rubin. Her sisters Chiffon (Piggie), Tameka and Breana. Her grandmother Juanita G Cobb and a host of other family members and friends. Please join her loved ones for a celebration of life March 30th, 10am-12pm at Greater New Hope Baptist Church 816 8th Street NW Washington, DC 20001. It will be followed by a home going party 1pm-4pm at The Chateau 3439 Benning Rd NE, Washington, DC 20019
