Leroy Davis, son of the late Ben Davis, Sr. and Mary Alston Davis was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at his home in Clinton, Maryland. Leroy was born on January 10, 1946 in Nash County, North Carolina and he is preceded in death by his brothers Toney Davis, Ben Davis, Jr., Lee Andrew Davis and Herman Earl Davis.
Leroy attended Swift Creek High School in Nash County, North Carolina. He moved to Washington, DC in 1966. He worked for the Department of Corrections, National Gallery of Arts Museum, and PEPCO.
Leroy was ordained a Deacon on July 8, 2010 where he served as a faithful member of the Pillars of Faith Holy Church (also known as Pillars of Faith Ministries), under the leadership of Bishop Melvin E. Wills, Sr. where he served as the Bishop's assistant in just about all matters of maintenance work around the church.
Leroy was a wonderful brother and father to his children. If ever there was a father who adored his children it was him. He was fun-loving, caring and family-oriented. He touched the lives of many people especially his grandchildren whom he loved and adored. Whenever you needed something to be done he was always there to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed helping others and assisted many people with transportation to church, doctor's appointments, maintenance in the home, lawn care as well as emotional and financial support. He had many friends. He will always be remembered for his amazing strength and his unselfish service to those in need.
Leroy leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Althea Marie Davis, two daughters Janell Kay (Donald), Ne'Kia Davis, two sons Roderick Deon Davis and Kelvin McQueen; four grandchildren, Jamyia, Lalah, Dionna, and Tariq; one brother James Lee Davis, one sister Mary Ann Davis; god children Jenese and Diamond and mothers of the children Olivia Davis and Evon Johnson; step children Kevin, Mark and Victoria Moyd; step grandchildren Jeannette, Christina, Kavin and Travis; step great grandson Dominique; god daughter Re'Chelle Hilliard; sister-in-law Elizabeth Moyd and a host of relatives and friends.
