Larence Sturghill departed this life on May 19, 2020 at New Horizon Assistant Living Facility in Bowie, MD. He was born February 16, 1937 in Memphis, Tennessee to the Late Lieutenant Sturghill and Lydia (Edmonds) Sturghill. He was preceded in death by his daughter Selene Swazest-Stokes, his brother, Harvey Sturghill, and four sisters, Florence Sturghill, Sarah J. Adkinson, Leal Jones and Shirley Troubetaris.
He received his education at E.A. Harold High School in Millington, Tennessee, and afterwards worked for the Federal Government for over 40 years.
He received his first Christian experience in 1962 where he became a faithful membered of Faith Tabernacle Church in Washington, DC. Where he also received his calling to ministry under the leadership of Pastor Robert Hardy.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to his wife Jonell Grier in 1966 which they shared a life for over 50 years until his call home to Christ.
He loved his family and leaves to mourn behind his four grandchildren: Tasha D. Towns and Jason (husband); three grandsons: Steven McCoy, Ronny Stokes III, and Christopher Stokes; two great-grandchildren, Natalie Towns, and Roman Stokes and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
