Kareem Abdul Shabazz, 28, of Capital Heights Maryland, passed on August 29, 2019 at the University of Maryland Hospital.

Kareem was born to Stanley Mott Vance and Isabela Fernandez, June 19 ^th ,1991, in Sydney, Australia.  He graduated from Nepean High School in 2007 and became a Special Police Officer in July 2019. He married Bithja Decimus in July 21 ^st , 2019, and they lived together in Capital Heights, Maryland. Together they raised one beautiful child.

He leaves as his legacy, daughter Arielle Isabela Shabazz and wife Bithja Shabazz. He also leaves to cherish his memory five siblings; Jehad Shabazz, Asha Fernandez, Shatana Fernandez, Tyla Dunscombe and Jade Dunscombe.

His family remember him as a man who always went above and beyond for them and his friends. He was a funny jokester, lawless (lol), helpful, energetic, social butterfly who loved to speak to strangers (especially on the train). Kareem loved a large cheese pizza, sprite, peanut butter and jam or honey sandwich and loafs of bread. He was a beauty advocate for Nivea, he always had to moisturize head to toe after every shower and would always say when seeing a proactive infomercial that "it really works!". Kareem loved music, he rapped and produced his own lyrics every day – he was a great poet. He always loved to play GTA, he was a great gamer, his screen name was "Big Daddy".

Kareem Abdul means "servant of the most generous" and we feel he was perfectly named. His lasting legacy was to donate his organs. He has generously given many others the gift of life. We are blessed to love Kareem and know his heroic act of love and kindness will live on.
