In Loving Memory of Julia Margaret (Burke) Eslin – JOAN
Joan Burke was born on November 19, 1937, in Galway, Ireland, to Agnes and Patrick Burke. In July 1956, she immigrated to Washington, D.C., where she joined her cousin Julia McKinley. Joan dedicated 40 years of service to the American Automobile Association (AAA), where she met her beloved husband, Jack. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in April 2012.
Joan is survived by her brother, Matthew Burke, and his wife, Mary; sisters, Margaret Cummins and her husband, Padraic, and Bridie O'Halloran, wife of the late Paddy; her late brother, John, and his wife, Margaret; and her late brother, Patrick Jr., and his wife, Maryan. She is also remembered by her sister-in-law, Janice Williams, and her husband, Joe; her daughters, Lorraine Folks and her husband, Billy, and Loretta Richardson and her husband, Marvin; and her late brother-in-law, Richard, and his son, Brian Eslin, and his wife, Jennifer—all of Maryland, USA.
Joan's life was enriched by the love and support of her extended family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and neighbors. Special thanks are extended to her caregiver, Cathy Kozak, and neighbor, Jim Lindimore, as well as the Ludden family—Larry and his late wife, Molly, and their children, Brian, Brendan, Eileen, and the late Kevin.
A woman of deep faith, Joan was an active member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church in Deltona, Florida. She was a lifetime member of the Council of Catholic Women (CCW) and participated in the Respite Program, Respect Life Ministry, and Ministry to the Sick.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Saint Vincent de Paul at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 1310 Maximilian Street, Deltona, FL 32725.
Joan will be remembered for her warmth, devotion, and unwavering kindness. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
