John Goodman was born in Washington, DC, at the Washington Hospital Center, the son of Billy (deceased) and Roberta Goodman. He grew up in Prince George's County, graduating from Crofton High School. At age 23 John joined the US Army and served in the 5 ^th Infantry Platoon (Airborne Pathfinder) where he made many life-long friends. Upon discharge he joined the National Guard and, in 1991, became a Gulf War Veteran when he called to active service during Operation Desert Storm. He was a man with a big heart who led by example, making sure that his team members were always accounted for. This mentality carried into his civilian work ethic as well. He developed a career as a systems engineer and lead talent evaluator with Avid Technology Professionals, a company that provides innovative solutions to software and network challenges.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Sharon, two sons, Andrew and Michael, two stepchildren, Jean and Dan, his mother Roberta and his sister Kathy Goodman. He was a loving grandfather to Jean's children, Oliver and Vanessa, and Dan's son, Finley. He was chose to his cousin Joe Parker and his niece Shantel and nephew Corey. There was also a special place in his heart for his dogs: Nessie, Yeti, and Ghost.
