Joan Cunningham Foney was born on January 31, 1947 in Washington, DC to Isaiah and Mamie Washington Cunningham. She departed this life on Sunday, April 22, 2007 in Burtonsville, Maryland.
Joan was married to William C. Foney, she was employed as the Executive Secretary in the Office of the Post Master General prior to her retirement in 1992 and her battle with MS.
Joan was a courageous spirit who gave life that best that she had to offer. She will remembered for her kindness, her smile and her willingness to perservere.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Randolph Street.
She leaves to cherish the memories of her life; her devoted husband, William C. Foney; her children, David C. Foney and Dana M. Foney; her granddaughter, Cierra Williams-Foney; her sister, Mary Loveless; her brother, William Cunningham; two special friends, Carrie Wood and Thelma Cannady and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 27, 2007 from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church, 712 Randolph Street, NW, Washington, DC. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers; memorial contributions may be made in her name to the National MS Society.
