He leaves to cherish the memories of his life his loving parents; his sister, Najila; his grandmothers, Cora Thompkins and Joan Murphy and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 11, 2008 at the Vermont Avenue Baptist Church, 1630 Vermont Avenue, NW, Washington, DC from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Jesse Thompkins, III Foundation for Young People in the Arts in c/o Chevy Chase Bank, 925 15th Street, NW Washington, DC 2005. This foundation will support Jesse's work both finished and unfinished and provide stipends to young artists like Jesse.
