James Ernest Parson, Sr., born on August 25, 1939, in Washington, DC, and renowned for his infectious laughter and amiable personality, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2024. He was the beloved son of John Parson and Alice Smith.
James devoted a significant portion of his life to serving for the DC Public School System. His dedication to his work exemplified his reliability, kindness, and commitment to the community he served.
Beyond his professional life, James was a loving father and grandfather who brought joy and warmth to his family. His children and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he took great pride in watching them grow and succeed. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering support.
James was a social butterfly who effortlessly drew people to him with his magnetic personality. Known for his sense of humor and storytelling, he was the life of every party and the heart of every gathering. Whether engaging in lively conversations, showcasing his skills on the pool table, or enjoying a friendly game of cards, James had a way of making everyone feel welcomed and appreciated.
In his leisure time, James found solace and camaraderie through his passion for playing pool and cards. These games not only brought him joy but also provided an avenue for forming lasting friendships and creating cherished memories.
James was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Lavonne Jordan. Surviving him are his two devoted and loving sons, James Ernest Parson, Jr. and Aaron Jeffrey Parson (Yodit). He also leaves behind four grandchildren - a precious granddaughter, Lilyanna Rose Parson, and three loving grandsons, James Ernest Parson, III,(Mother,Tisha), Robert Jordan, and George Ellison. Additionally, he is survived by his only living and loving sister, Mrs. Deloris 'Brenda' E. (Charles B., Jr.) Sears, and was preceded in death by his only brother, John Walter Parson, Sr. And the Mother of his 2 sons, Connie Darlene Parson.
A celebration of life service will be held in honor of James at the Tenth Street Baptist Church, located at 1000 R Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, on Friday, July 12th. The family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by a service commemorating his life and legacy.
Following the service, James will be laid to rest at the Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, a peaceful final resting place befitting a man who touched the lives of so many with his kindness and joy.
James Ernest Parson, Sr., will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be cherished.
May he rest in peace, knowing that his presence has left an indelible mark on the lives of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
