James Austin was born on February 6, 1948.  He departed this life unexpectedly the night of October 31, 2019 at his residence in Oxon Hill, MD.

James attended Spingarn High School in Washington, D.C. He worked in transportation for George Washington University over thirty-five years. In his leisure time, James enjoyed making people laugh, playing cards, spending time with his family, dancing and wearing classy clothing.  He loved listening to music and his favorite music was blues. He was always full of jokes, and certainly never met a stranger.

James was joined in holy matrimony to Magdalene Holt on January 28, 1978.  They shared over forty-one years of marriage together.

Preceded to glory before him, was his father, Albert Austin, his mother, Ethel Austin, nephew, Antjuan McNeil and brother, Albert Alston.

James will forever be loved and remembered in the hearts of his wife: Magdalene, children: Kimothy (Tiffany), Delonte (LaSean), Glen (Pam), siblings: Earnestine Barnes, Ethel McNeil, eight nieces: Tonya, Renee, Michelle, Brenda, Faye, Dianne, Rosalynd, Betsy, four nephews: Troy, AJ, Danny, Donnie, seven grandchildren: D'Andre, Devon, Kimothy, Chante', Yancey, DeNae, Kara and a host of family and friends.

James was known to many as Pie, Pop and "that James".  However, known, his Life was a BLESSING, his memory is a TREASURE, and we will miss him beyond MEASURE!
