Emma Louise Lawler went home to glory at the wise age of 94. She had one son named Daniel Roy Lawler whom passed in August 2015. She is survived by granddaughter, Emma Lawler Graham, grandson-in-law, Andre Graham, & 5 great grand daughters and sons of Erika Clark, Rodney Clark, Anndreia Bond, Diamond Graham, and DeAndre Graham. Also, she is survived by a host of other family which includes aunts (Pat Purdy & others), uncles, and cousins (Cecelia & others) from Jackson, Mississippi.
Ms. Lawler was born in Jackson, Mississippi on January 1st, 1925 and lived on the family plantation. Her mother and father were Ruth Mitchell Lawler and Jesse Lawler. Age the tender age of 18, she was recruited to work for the Federal Government, Department of Defense as a Clerk Typist. She worked for the Federal Government from 1943-1988 and had 45 years of service. Her last position there was an Analyst. She left this service of work with over one year of sick leave. When she first came to Washington DC, she lived in the dormitory of Howard University, so she decided to attend college there at the same time to study Music Education for 2 years. In the community, she served the Lord for the music ministry at Riggs Park Baptist Church for over 50 years as the organist/choir member. Last, she taught many students how to play the piano and guitar.
Ms. Lawler loved children and helped raised her granddaughter, great grandkids, and other family friends kids. She loved going on picnics, roller skating at Kalorama Road skating rink, doing word search puzzles, and playing the piano & organ. During her later years, she lived 7 ½ years with her granddaughter & grandson-in-law & then last four years of life at Fort Washington Health Center which she was cared for by wonderful nurses, doctors, and nurse aides & other staff that took good care of her. Ms. Lawler was loved by many and will be missed by family, friends, and church members. May you rest in peace in our Father's Heavenly home.
