Elwood Allen Massie was born in Charlottesville, Virginia on December 23, 1946 to the union of Barbara Blakey Massie and the late Elwood Massie. He entered into eternal rest on October 23, 2008 in Washington, DC.
He confessed Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized into the body of Christ in the Mount Sinai Baptist Church in Dyke, Virginia.
Allen, as he was affectionately known was educated in the Greene County Public School System in Virginia.
In the early seventies he relocated to Washington, DC where he began a thirty year career as a trained butcher with Washington Beef, retiring in 2002.
His favorite pastimes included fishing and entertaining his many friends and neighbors. He had a "heart" for people, always kind, gentle and caring.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life; his mother, Mrs. Barbara Massie; four children, Calvin, Quinten (Lois), LaJuan and Jeffrey; six grandchildren; four sisters; three aunts; one uncle; four stepchildren; a lifelong friend, Ms. Emma Brock; a devoted friend, Ms. Brenda McDuffie and a host of cousins, neighbors and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 27, 2008 in Stanardsville, Virginia at the shiloh Baptist Church, 71 shiloh Road, Stanardsville, Virginia with a visitation at 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM. Interment will be in the shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
