Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Hunt Gardner (98), born in Chicago, IL. August 8, 1916, a devoted and loving daughter of William Luther Hunt and Elizabeth Miller Hunt, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her were her husband of almost 60 years, Vernon Everett Gardner, who passed in 2010, and brothers Robert Miller Hunt and Bernard Cyril Hunt.
She is survived by her brother, William L. Hunt II, of St. Petersburg, FL and many nieces and nephews, as well as by her faithful caregiver Anita Hernandez and many friends & relatives.
She spent her childhood in Washington, DC, graduated from Eastern High School and attended Wilson's Normal Teaching College. She spent her summers with her family in Fair Haven, MD on the Chesapeake Bay. She was a member of All Soul's Unitarian Church, the Arts Club of Washington, the Audubon Society, Eastern Star, and local music, folk dancing, skating and art groups within the Washington, DC area. She loved her flowers, art, birds, traveling, writing poetry and entertaining. She nurtured her nieces and nephews and provided varied cultural and educational opportunities.
In 1995, she moved from her home in Falls Church, VA. to Hendersonville, NC where she continued to enjoyed her art, birding and other hobbies. Over many years, she researched and chronicled the Hunt family genealogy, leaving extensive records for which her family remains ever grateful.
