Born December 10, 1920 in Pittsburgh, PA to James and Edna Elizabeth Bishop Vevers died Wednesday, July 25, 2007, of cancer at his home in White Plains, Maryland. He was a retired WW II Navy veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Helen E. Hrbek Vevers of White Plains, MD, formerly of Camp Springs, MD; his children Edwin M. Vevers, Jr. and his wife Pam of White Plains, MD, Patti Parvis and her husband Joe of White Plains, MD and Frank H. Vevers and his wife P.J. of Mechanicsville, MD. He is also survived by granddaughter Lindsey E. Jackson of White Plains; great-granddaughter Keira E. Greenhorn; grandsons Brett Stees and his wife Wendy of Baltimore, MD, Master Sgt. Kevin Stees and his wife Jocelyn, currently residing in Japan; great-grandsons Thomas, Taylor and Colin Stees; and great-granddaughter Isabella Stees. He is also survived by wonderful friends Tom and Jackie McDonnell; many nieces, nephews and a host of longtime friends.
He was preceded in death by all seven siblings.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 29, 2007 from 2 PM to 7 PM in the Chapel of the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland where services will be held on Monday, July 30 at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland, Maryland with Military Honors.
The family has requested donations to the Hospice of LaPlata, MD in lieu of flowers.
