Dorothy Lee Taylor departed this life on Wednesday, September 3, 2014
at Rock Creek Manor Nursing Home. She was born on July 4, 1929 in
Covington, VA. to the late Sanford P. Quarles and Eula Lee Robinson.
She was raised in Amherst County, Virginia were she attend public
school. After High school, she met and married the late Thomas S.
Carpenter. Out of this union three children were born. One daughter,
Dorothy Yvonne Quander and two sons Michael Carpenter and the late
Milton Carpenter. One niece Mary Weaver whom she raised as her
daughter. Later on in life, she met and married the late Isiah Taylor.

After coming to D.C. she did domestic work and retired after 30 years.
She later joined St. James Baptist Church, where she was baptized and
joined the Missionary and Usher Board.

During her pastime, she enjoyed cooking, watching her stories and
listening to gospel music with her family.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Dorothy Quander, her
son Michael Carpenter, a niece who she raised as her daughter, Mary
Weaver, one aunt Mildred Woodruff and a host of grandchildren,
great, grandchildren; one great, great grandchild and nieces and
nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by
her son Milton Carpenter, one brother Sanford W. Quarles and one sister
Sarah Burton.
