Donnell Jefferson was born in Washington DC on October 8, 1945 to the late Delores Bowman and James Pippin. She departed this life on Tuesday May 4, 2021 at the age of 75 at Doctors Community Hospital in Lanham, MD.
She was educated in the District of Columbia Public Schools and attended Prince Georges Community College in Largo Maryland. Donnell married the late Bernard Jefferson in October 1963 and was married for a period of six years.
She accepted Christ, joined Grace Memorial Baptist Church on March 28, 1982, and was baptized April 6, 1982 by the late Rev. John H. Kenner at Grace Memorial Baptist Church located in Washington DC.
She worked for a total of 42 years for the District and Federal Government. She also worked for the C & P Telephone Company as a long-distance telephone operator and had several clerical positions at a private firm and at the University of the District of Columbia in Washington DC before joining the government.
Donnell loved to travel and visited many places. She especially enjoyed sightseeing in these locations. She has toured Europe, Hawaii, Canada, many Caribbean Islands, Mexico, and of course many cities in the United States.
She leaves to cherish her memories, one niece; Crystal Johnson-Haylett, two great nephews; Elijah Haylett and Emmanuel Haylett, one cousin; three best friends; Karen Giggetts, Yvonne Gravett-Smith, and Linda Addison; many special friends; Mary Harrison, Carol Powers-Banks, Janis Coleman, Roz Simms, Jackie Leffyear, Margret Brown, Mary Bender, Cindy Mitchell and other friends and neighbors.
