On Saturday, October 5, 2019 Darnell A. Lewis suddenly departed his life at Washington Hospital Center.  He was born and raised in Washington, DC.  He attended various special-needs schools in the DC area.  He also attended Sharp Health School were he received a honorary high school diploma.  After high school, Darnell started his new job working for UPC.

Darnell loved to work, eat food, give orders and spend time with his family.  He also loved to watch sports on television.  His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Darnell was also a celebrity in his own rite.  He testified in front of Congress to help raise money for computers that would speak for the impaired who could not verbally talk.  Congress was so impressed with Darnell, they signed the Bill that granted students with disabilities the ability to receive computers to assist them with there verbal communication.

Darnell was preceded in death by his grandparents Willie Lewis, Jr., Joyce J. Lewis and Evelyn Coleman; one great-grandmother Helen J. Martin; and one Aunt Renee C. Lewis.

Darnell is survived by his loving mother and father Helen L. Coleman and Derrick G. Coleman; two sisters DeAndra A. Coleman and Destini Alford-Coleman; one brother Derrick G. Coleman, Jr.; one sister-in-law Sade Coleman; 5 nieces: Janiya, Jon'ae, Khloe, Makenzie and Na'jaah; 2 nephews Trevon and Derrick III; one uncle Vincent; 4 aunts: Tina, Tonya, Shelia and Joyce; his godfather Lamont; and a host of other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to all of his caregivers: William West, Clarissa Adams-Simmons and all of the staff that helped take care of Darnell.
