Claresa McConnell (Clarice) was called home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2019. She was born March 21, 1930 in the District of Columbia to the late Rossie and Willie Mae Barbour. Claresa attended public school in Washington, D.C. and graduated from Cardoza High School.
In 1948, she married the late Dock McConnell and gave birth to six children. Clarice enjoyed fun times with family and friends and loved attending cookouts and completing puzzles. As many women of her generation she enjoyed having every strand of her hair in place; and always wanted to know when her appointment was. In her later years you would find her reading romance and mystery novels while sneaking chocolate candy.
Clarice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her youngest son Keith and grandsons Derrick Matthews and Keenan Vest. Clarice had nine siblings, seven of whom preceded her in death 4 brothers John, Eugene, Clarence, and William along with 3 sisters Essie Mae, Margaret, and Mildred. Left to celebrate her life and cherish her memory are her caregiver and daughter Cecelia Livingston (Winfield), 4 sons Dock, Gregory, Robert Sr. (Sheila) and Michael (Karen); siblings Rosetta Townsel and Mary Benson; grandchildren, Dominica Matthews, Grergory McConnell Jr., Robert McConnell Jr., Shaquita Brent, Shana Murray, Tiffani Holt, Jerel McConnell, Sean Livingston (Nicole), Shari McConnell, Paul Phifer and Jason McConnell (Jennifer); several great-grandchildren, and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
