Clarence Edison Rivers was born in Petersburg, Virginia on September 7, 1932 to Clarence Charles and Adlena Harper Rivers, he departed this life on April 12, 2007 in Largo Maryland.
Clarence served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged.
He was married on December 1, 1956 to the former Martha Epps, they shared a marriage of more than fifty years. Clarence was a member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church of Washington, DC.
He retired from the Saint Elizabeth's Hospital where he was a Forensic Technician, he was a member of the Saint Elizabeth's Retirement Club. Clarence's hobbies included fishing and leather tooling.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life; his loving wife, Martha Epps Rivers; two daughters, Lorra L. Rivers and Linda Rivers; two sons, Lawrence R. Rivers and Carl E. Rivers (Gillian); two granddaughters; three sisters, Edith Chandler, Eunice Rivers and Rosa Rivers along with a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 18, 2007 from 2:00-4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM-8:00 PM in the Chapel of the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland and on Thursday, April 19 from 11:00 AM until the service at 12 Noon at the Bethlehem Baptist Church, 2458 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue, SE Washington, DC. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland.
