In Loving Memory of Charles Curtis Jones Sr. (Sunrise: March 10, 1933 – Sunset: October 26, 2025)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Charles Curtis Jones Sr. who gained his wings on October 26, 2025, at the age of 92 years. Our beloved Charles Curtis Jones Sr. was born on March 10, 1933, to the late Harold Jones and Lucille (Mintz) Jones. He was raised in Greensboro, North Carolina where he completed his formal education before enlisting in the United States Army where he selflessly served our country. Charles relocated to Washington, D.C. and called the Capital City home for well over five decades. Prior to retirement, Charles was employed by Prince George's County Public Schools where he served as the Food Service Manager at Hillcrest Heights Elementary School for most of his career. He often shared fond memories and stories about his beloved colleagues and schoolchildren. He was a long-standing member at Jordan Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Deacon and was a vocal member of the Men's Ministry. Above all, Charles dedicated his life to nurturing his family with patience and unconditional love. His booming laughter and quick wit filled the home, and his wisdom, although sometimes sharp, guided our paths.
On October 26, 2025, Charles departed this earth and though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on through memories, and the love he so freely shared. We are forever grateful for the time shared with him. He will always be in our hearts. Charles will be remembered by his devoted spouse of over 40 years, Dorothy. He also leaves to cherish is memory seven loving children: Charles C. Jones Jr., Angela Jones-Chavis, Terry R. Jones, Charita L. Jones, Steven L. Jones (Sheila), Pamela "Cookie" Ruffin Clark (Phil), and Anjeanette Warren Blount (John); seventeen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren, all who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives with the kindness and integrity he instilled in them. In addition to his immediate family, Charles leaves to cherish his memory, a host of friends and family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Lucille Jones; three sons: Darryl L. Jones, Dwayne L. Jones and James R. Jones; and two daughters: Debra A. Beaner and Sabryna Hamilton.
