Charles Gilbert "Gilly" Hill was born on October 15, 1938 in Thompkinsville, Maryland to the loving union of the late Raymond and Amy Burroughs Hill, he was the youngest of eleven children. He entered eternal rest on October 23, 2008 in Takoma Park, Maryland.
His family and friends affectionately called him Gilly.
After completing high school he enlisted into the United States Navy. He was honorably discharged after his tour of duty. Charles was employed with the Department of the Navy after his military service as a civilian employee until his retirement.
He was a faithful member of the Saint John the Baptist De Salle Catholic Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Beverly and six of his siblings.
He leaves to cherish the memories of his life; his children; Tenitia Tyler, Damien C. Hill (Zelalem), Teahna Tyler Twyman and Tabron Tyler; seven grandchildren, Jordan, Joshua, Damien, Carlos, Nia, Taleah and Andriana; four sisters, Marie Jenifer, Beverly Cramer (Israel), Mabel Johnson and Thelma Wilson and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, November 3, 2008 at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 12 Noon. Interment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland with military honors.
