IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Charles D.
Heffner, Jr.
January 17, 1930 – April 10, 2024
In Loving Memory of Charles D. Heffner, Jr.
Charles D. Heffner, Jr., cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Ann, of 70 years, sons Michael and James, grandchildren Kristen, Jason, Stephanie, and Bryan and great grandchildren Makayla and Carter. Known familiarly as Chuck or Charlie, he will be remembered for his intelligence and wit, his generous spirit, and his commitment to his family and friends.
He was an avid fan of railroads, maintaining an extensive collection of models, involvement with fellow hobbyists, and supporting historic railroad sites including East Broad Top in Pennsylvania - many vacations included visits to local historic railway sites. A fan of music, especially classical and jazz, he and Ann often frequented local jazz venues and home sessions with friends.
Chuck spent his full career at the Naval Research Laboratory as an electronics technician after serving in the Navy on the USS Valley Forge during the Korean War.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Charles' name - some favorite charities have included Capital Area Food Bank, Doctors without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, and Friends of the East Broad Top.
