Billy Nathaniel Alexander was born September 15, 1931 in Red Bank, New Jersey to the late William Alexander and Lillian Carter.
"Bill or Alex" as he was fondly known, attended public schools in Red Bank, New Jersey where he later graduated from Red bank High School. Shortly afterwards, Bill joined the Armed Forces to a make a life for himself.
During his travels in New York, he crossed paths with Harriet "Jean" Morton who was employed with Carnival Toy Factory, she would become his bride. Their union produced twins, Andre and Angela.
Bill and Jean moved to Washington, DC where he was stationed at Andrews Air Force Base. During his tour in the Air Force, Bill traveled abroad enjoying the many sites of the world while serving his country.
Bill retired from active duty while stationed in Dover, Delaware after serving twenty years in the Air Force as a Technical Sergeant on August 10, 1971. After his retirement from the Air Force, he continued his life as a provider for his family. He resided in the southeast area for more than fifty years. He truly enjoyed working on cars, playing poker games with Uncle Bill, Monty, Kia, Denise and Andre.
Bill was a connoisseur of books and magazines; with the bathroom as his sanctuary. Bill often proclaimed his space in the kitchen, preparing dishes from the various places he'd visited in his travels.
Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife, Harriet Jean Alexander and his daughter, Angela Alexander.
Bill is survived by one son, Andre' Alexander (Gwen); one step-son, Daryl Morton (Lenora); two grandchildren, Crystal Brooks and Alexis Alexander; three great grandchildren;DeMarco, Christian and Robert Johnson; a niece, Denise Wilson and family; a brother-in-law, Bill McBurney and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 2, 2007 at 12:00 PM until the service at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Cedar Hill Funeral Home, 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, Maryland. Interment will be on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at 9:30 AM in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia with Full Military Honors.
