Bayon Jeannette Tubbs went home to be with the Lord on the afternoon of Saturday, November 16th at Prince Georges Hospital. She was born the fourth child of seven children to the late Essie Mae and William Powell on January 28, 1953 in Washington, DC.

Bayon grew up and attended the public schools in Washington, DC. She was married to Billy E. Tubbs (divorced). In January 1972, she gave birth to Sharon Powell (Henderson) and October 1974, she gave birth to Angela Tubbs. She was later baptized at and a member of Beulah Baptist Church in Washington, DC.

Bayon worked at the Department of Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for 42 years starting as a legal clerk and elevated to a paralegal specialist prior to retiring in December 2018. During her time working at IRS, she had made many friends whom she considered her family as well. She was a loving sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend--Bayon was always there when you needed her. Anyone who was blessed to have known Bayon during her life knew that she gave genuinely from the heart.

She had a passion for cooking and baking--everyone knew she baked the best cakes--and planning family cookouts and hosting holiday dinners. She loved her oldies-but-goodies music--if you needed music, she had it in her library especially songs by Smokey Robinson. Although Bayon was a native of DC, she was a huge fan of Dallas Cowboys. In addition, she was a soap opera fan--one would know not to call when she was watching The Young & the Restless. But, most importantly, Bayon loved spending time with her family and friends.

Bayon is survived and will be cherished by her sister: Cheryl; brothers: Saladin and Tarik; devoted daughters: Sharon and Angela; son-in-law: Lionel (Sharon); sisters-in-law: Donna (Jose) and Michelle (Tarik); brother-in-law: Michael (Fatimah); granddaughters: Mayah and Anya; nieces: Melvina (extended daughter), Elizabeth, and Taliah; nephews: Curtis, Marcus, and Rashad; great nieces: Marisha (Michael), Genesis, Melanie, and Ashlee; great nephew: Zimiri; great, great nieces/nephews (her munchkins): Faith, Makai, Angel, and Malayah; best friends: Connie Brown, Madeline McKinney, and Alfred Price; and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She will be sincerely missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Billy Tubbs; her parents: William and Essie Mae; her brothers: Andre and Jose Powell, and sister: Fatimah Holman.
