Annie Iristine Vines was born April 8, 1939 in Greenville, NC to the late Oliver and Maggie Miller. She was one of11 children. Annie affectionately known as (Iristine or Tine) fought a good fight, finished her course, kept the faith and entered into rest from her labor on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. She was preceded in death by her sisters Velma Lean Wooten, Barbara Jean White and Annie Mae Carmon and brothers Oliver Miller, Jr., William Beckwith and Jessie Miller.
Iristine attended Greenville Public Schools and graduated from C. M. Eppes High School in 1960. She married James E. Vines, Sr., in 1960 and relocated from North Carolina to Washington, DC which became home. From their union they had three sons, James E. Vines, Jr., Calvin E. Vines, and Andre N. Vines.
Iristine worked as an Educational Aide for D.C. Public Schools for several years. Later, she became a Licensed Daycare Provider and then went on to become sole proprietor of her own business. Anyone that knows her knew she loved her babies.
Mom's Christian faith started with the teachings from her mother Maggie and continued when she moved to Washington, DC. She and her sons were faithful members of Macedonia Holy Church on the Rock and years later her Christian journey continued as a member of True Deliverance Church of God where she went on to become an Evangelist and Adult Sunday School teacher.
Mom was an awesome teacher of the word of God. She was very structured in biblical principles. Through her teachings her sons became leaders in their respective churches ( 2 musicians and 1 minister). Mom was an awesome writer that wrote many study guides from the books of the Bible.
She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memory her husband James E. Vines, Sr.; sons James E. Vines, Jr. (Trevilla), Calvin E. Vines (Angela), and Andre N. Vines; thirteen grandchildren Derrick, Demmion, Ullanda, Terry, Theresa (Michael), Tina (DaShawn), Calvin (Serena), Mario, Chandler, Ebony, Chante', Chene' and Hope; twelve great-grandchildren; three sisters Annie Belle Atkinson (Richard), Caristine Davis, Annie Miller; one brother Charles Miller (Vonnie Ruth), and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
