Mrs. Annie V. Stewart was born on November 13, 1931 to the late Mary Novella Dent and the late William Dent. She was educated in the Charles County Public School system. She met and then married James R. Stewart on November 19, 1949. Annie was employed for over thirty – five years at The Madison Hotel as a housekeeper until she retired. She was a dedicated employee.
Annie accepted the Lord at an early age. She was an active member of The Mount Airy Baptist Church, serving faithfully on the Hospitality Ministry. Annie's favorite thing to do was to cook, she always cooked on holidays and invited the whole family over to eat. Her favorite dish everyone wanted her to make was her shrimp salad.
Annie was an average sports fan, she loved looking at the football (Redskins) and baseball games. She loved coming to church, it was like another family to her. Her favorite music was church hymns and country music. Her favorite colors were red and black.
Annie leaves to cherish her memories are her daughters Gloria (Richard) McKinnon, Debra Washington, her son Michael Stewart and daughter-in-law Zelliah Bernice Stewart; sisters Margaret Baltimore, Sarah Proctor, Mary Jane Collin and Emma (Grady) Lee; brothers James and Andy Johnson, 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren and 1 granddaughter-in-law; and best friend Mrs. Fannie Nolan. Also to cherish her memories are 5 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceded in death are James R. Stewart (husband), James R. Stewart (son), William Dent (brother), Amos Dent (brother), John Johnson (brother), Betty Dent (sister), Ethel Johnson (sister), Nellie Davis (sister), and Thelma Montgomery (sister).
