Obituary

Andrew Epps, Jr. was born on September 11, 1938 in Hobgood, a small town in Halifax County, NC. It was there that he received his education. He was born to the late Andrew Epps, Sr. and Annie Mae Hyman Epps.
Andrew joined Cherry's Chapel Baptist Church in Hobgood, NC at an early age. While there he served as a faithful member of the usher board.

Andrew later met Mamie at the tender age of 12. They were united in marriage in 1958 and to this union (5) children were born. On July 11, 1963 they moved from NC to Washington, DC where he began working at Merkle Printing Co. He was a Pressman at various printing companies. From 1982 to 1986, he was employed by Judd Detwiler Printing Company. After leaving Detwiler he worked at Peake Printers where he remained employed until retiring in 2000. Upon retirement he faithfully assisted with the care of his elderly father-in-law.
Andrew loved God, his devoted wife Mamie, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews and extended family. He just loved people and to know him was to love him! On December 16, 2015, he and his wife celebrated 57 years of marriage. They were truly life-long soul mates!

Some of Andrew's pastimes were fishing and watching the Washington Redskins play football. He also loved to cook and enjoyed doing so at Family Reunions. Every meal was a favorite and enjoyed by all who was fortunate enough to share in it. As a matter-of-fact in April 2014, he prepared his last feast before suffering a stroke.

He loved listening to gospel music. One of his favorite quotes was "it's in the Master's hand".

Andrew was preceded in death by (3) siblings: James E. Epps, Ethel R. Epps Moody and Columbus Epps. He leaves to cherish his memory and celebrate his life his devoted wife Mamie Epps; his children Billy Epps (Love), Victor Epps, Melvin Epps, Vonda Epps (Luis), and Kim Epps (Greg); his grandchildren Lovely Epps, Billy Epps, Jr. (B.J.), Natasha Epps, Edwin Shaun Rios, Nigel Rios; Sashauna Epps, Brandon Murphy, Robert Epps (Peanut), Trevon Epps (Tre), Alijauan Epps, his great-grandchildren Alexus Epps, Taiyana Smith, Malik Smith, Eziekel Epps, Shania Rios, Aniya Rios, Riley Rios, Edwin Shaun Rios, Jr., (S.J.), Kylie Rios, Brandon Murphy Jr. (Little Brandon), Zayden Epps, Trevon Epps, Jr. (Little Tre), Jayce Hubbard, Bella Epps, Kylie Addison; his sisters: Ann L.
