In accordance with God's Divine plan, Allison Browning, III was called home on Thursday, August 8, 2024, while he slept.
Allison was born in Weldon, NC, on July 19, 1947, to the late Allison Browning, Jr. and Pearlie Mae Bell Browning. The family relocated to Newport News, VA when Allison was 5 years old. His childhood was filled with friends from the neighborhood and schoolmates from elementary school to high school. After graduating from Huntington High School, class of 1965, Allison was drafted into the military during the Vietnam War conflict.
Moving to Maryland to accept employment at the USPS as a Letter Carrier, Allison worked in the Washington, DC postal service for 38 years. He enjoyed many years with family and friends, especially during the NFL season and hosting impromptu backyard cookouts.
Allison leaves his legacy of love and generosity to his wife, Maglenda Richardson Browning, children, James, Stacy, Timothy (Trina) and twins Michael and Michelle; his siblings, Doretha Carter, Laura Greenfield, Silvester Browning (Anita) and Everett Browning (Betty); 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Richardson. Other survivors include in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, and life-long friends.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Browning is scheduled for Thursday, August 29, at New Hope Baptist Church, situated at 3400 Pinevale Ave, Forestville, MD 20747. The family invites friends and loved ones to join them from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM for a time of gathering and remembrance. The service will commence shortly thereafter, providing an opportunity for all to honor Mr. Browning's life and legacy.
The internment will be held at Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery on September 6th at 11:15 AM.
