Obituary

Agnes Mae Wooten, loving wife of Amos, was the mother of five children. She was preceded in death by her husband Amos and baby daughter, Patricia Ann, who was lost to spina bifida. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Donna, Donna's husband Ricky, Her son Tom, and Tom 's wife Donna.

Agnes was born In Capitol Heights, Maryland. She was raised in Prince Georges County. She met her future husband, married, and then lived in Washington DC. After a number of years, She and Amos bought their first home in Hillside Maryland, where they started their family. She ran a  licensed day care for a number of years while raising her own children. In her spare time,  she was never one to sit still. She loved spending time
with her friends and was a member of the women's bowling league at Parkland Bowling. She loved fishing, traveling, and slot machines.

Agnes's family was always the most important thing in her life. She was always there for all of her children to help, in any way she could, through all the trials and tribulations that life presents. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, where she made lifelong friends, all of whom passed before her.

She and Amos, years later, moved to Southern Maryland, where she started a job as a Nursing Assistant, which she loved, and stayed with for
around 30 yrs.

She and Amos spent 48 loving years together, until his passing in 1989. Agnes was deeply affected by the loss of her husband and spent many  years coping with her grief while dealing with the beginning stages of dementia, which went unrecognized by those around her. She struggled until diagnosed many years later.

After her diagnosis, she was left alone in West Virginia. She returned to Maryland to be closer to her daughter and son. Once back in Maryland,
she finally received the proper medical treatment. She thrived in her new surroundings with many activities, and loved being close to her family. She  made many good friends among residents, a few very special nursing assistants, and other staff. Through it all, Agnes never lost her love of people and her friends. She made friends everywhere she went. Her love of life and sense of humor were infectious. People were drawn to her and she made every day a little brighter for those around her. She could always come up with a wisecrack or comment to get those around her to laugh or smile.

Agnes was laid to rest next to her husband and daughter at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Suitland,
Maryland on Friday November 12, 2020.

We will always love and miss her.
